1021 - 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Abd al-Hamid informed me, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah said: "Jarir ibn 'Abd Allah was among the last of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to embrace Islam, and he says: 'I pledged allegiance to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, based on sincerity (al-nush). So, can sincerity and modesty be part of faith, while fasting and prayer are not part of faith?"
١٠٢١ - وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مِنْ آخِرِ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَيَقُولُ: «بَايَعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النُّصْحِ» ، فَيَكُونُ النُّصْحُ وَالْحَيَاءُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ، وَلَا يَكُونُ الصَّوْمُ وَالصَّلَاةُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ؟
