801 - Al-Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Duri informed me, saying: Ibrahim, the brother of Aban ibn Salih, narrated to us, saying: "I was a companion of Ahmad ibn Hanbal at the [majlis of] Abd al-Razzaq. He said: So we began to listen. When those hadiths came that contained some of what they contain [criticism of the Companions], Ahmad ibn Hanbal stood up, withdrew to a side, and said: 'What should I do with these?' Then, when those hadiths had ceased, he came back and resumed listening."
