815 - Abd al-Malik al-Maymuni informed us, saying: We were discussing the hadith of al-A'mash and what he makes mistakes in, and what is seen of those obscure matters. I said: "O Abu Abd Allah, is it along with this?" He said to me: "Yes, that is, it is established." And Abu Abd Allah said to me: "It is not appropriate for you to hear them. It reached Yahya ibn Sa'id that Ghundar had narrated something from Shu'bah concerning this story, so our companions went to him, but I did not go. Yahya said: 'What compelled him to narrate it? Perhaps a man has made a mistake in something and narrated it, so he narrates it on his authority.'"
