829 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad al-Kirmani informed us, saying: Abu al-Rabi related to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd related to us, saying: Shihab ibn Khirash related to us, from his uncle, al-Awwam ibn Hawshab, who said: 'Mention the virtues of the Companions of Muhammad (peace be upon him) so that hearts may be drawn to them, and do not mention their faults, lest you incite the people against them.'
٨٢٩ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْكَرْمَانِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا شِهَابُ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ الْعَوَّامِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، قَالَ: «اذْكُرُوا مَحَاسِنَ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ تَأْتَلِفُ عَلَيْهِ الْقُلُوبُ، وَلَا تَذْكُرُوا مَسَاوِيَهُمْ، فَتُحَرِّشُوا النَّاسَ عَلَيْهِمْ»
