1162 - Al-Duri informed us, saying: Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Jarir, meaning Ibn Hazim, informed me, saying: 'Isa ibn 'Asim narrated to me, from 'Adi ibn 'Adi—who was, on that day, the governor of Armenia—saying: 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz wrote to me: "Peace be upon you. To proceed: Faith consists of laws (shara'i'), practices (sunan), and boundaries (hudud). Whoever fulfills them has completed his faith, and whoever does not fulfill them has not completed his faith. If I live among you, I will explain them to you so that you may act upon it—or he said: upon them—if Allah wills. And if I die, then by Allah, I am not eager to keep your company."
