Ibrahim said: Fudayl ibn 'Iyad was asked, while I was listening, about faith. He replied: "Faith, according to us, encompasses the inward and the outward: acknowledgement by the tongue, acceptance by the heart, and action."
قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: وَسُئِلَ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ عَنِ الْإِيمَانِ؟ فَقَالَ: " الْإِيمَانُ عِنْدَنَا دَاخِلَةٌ وَخَارِجَةٌ: الْإِقْرَارُ بِاللِّسَانِ، وَالْقَبُولُ بِالْقَلْبِ، وَالْعَمَلُ "
