1319 - Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: I heard al-Awza'i reporting that 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz had ordered his guards, when he came out to them, not to stand up for him, and if they were sitting, they were to make room for him. One day he went out to them, and they made room for him. He then said: "Which of you knows our messenger to Egypt?" They replied: "We all know him." He said: "Then let the youngest among you stand up to go to him." A man among them stood up, and the messenger said to him: "Do not rush me until I fasten my garments." He then went to him, and 'Umar, may Allah have mercy upon him, said to him: "Today is Friday, so do not set out until you perform the Friday prayer; for we have sent you on an urgent matter concerning the affairs of the Muslims, but do not let our haste for you cause you to delay the prayer past its appointed time, for you must surely perform it. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, mentioned a people and said: {They neglected the prayer} [Maryam: 59], and their neglecting it was not abandoning it, but rather they neglected the appointed times."

١٣١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْأَوْزَاعِيَّ، يُخْبِرُ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ كَانَ قَدْ أَمَرَ حُرَّاسَهُ إِذَا خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ ⦗١٢٣⦘ أَنْ لَا يَقُومُوا لَهُ، وَإِنْ كَانُوا جُلُوسًا وَسَّعُوا لَهُ، فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، فَأَوْسَعُوا لَهُ، فَقَالَ: " أَيُّكُمْ يَعْرِفُ رَسُولَنَا إِلَى مِصْرَ؟ فَقَالُوا: كُلُّنَا نَعْرِفُهُ. قَالَ: فَلْيَقُمْ إِلَيْهِ أَحْدَثُكُمْ سِنًّا. فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّسُولُ: لَا تَعْجَلْنِي حَتَّى أَشُدَّ ثِيَابِي. قَالَ: فَأَتَاهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ: إِنَّ الْيَوْمَ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَلَا تَخْرُجْ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الْجُمُعَةَ، فَإِنَّا بَعَثْنَاكَ فِي أَمْرِ عَجَلَةٍ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَلَا يَحْمِلَنَّكَ اسْتِعْجَالُنَا إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تُؤَخِّرَ الصَّلَاةَ عَنْ مِيقَاتِهَا، فَإِنَّكَ لَا مَحَالَةَ تُصَلِّيهَا، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ذَكَرَ قَوْمًا، فَقَالَ: {أَضَاعُوا الصَّلَاةَ} [مريم: ٥٩] ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ إِضَاعَتُهُمْ إِيَّاهُمْ تَرْكَهَا، وَلَكِنْ أَضَاعُوا الْمَوَاقِيتَ "
