1676 - Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Waki' narrated to us, from Kahmas, from 'Abd Allah ibn Buraydah, from Yahya ibn Ya'mar, from Ibn 'Umar, from 'Umar, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): That Gabriel (peace be upon him) said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "What is faith?" He said: "To believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in the Decree (Qadar), its good and its evil." Gabriel (peace be upon him) said: "You have spoken the truth." He (the narrator) said: "So we were amazed at him; he would ask him and then confirm him." He (the narrator) said: "Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'That was Gabriel, who came to teach you your religion.'"
١٦٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ كَهْمَسٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يعْمَرَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَا الْإِيمَانُ؟ قَالَ: «أَنْ تُؤْمِنَ بِاللَّهِ، وَمَلَائِكَتِهِ، وَكُتُبِهِ، وَرُسُلِهِ، وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، وَبِالْقَدَرِ خَيْرِهِ وَشَرِّهِ» . فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ: صَدَقْتَ. قَالَ: فَعَجِبْنَا مِنْهُ، يَسْأَلُهُ وَيُصَدِّقُهُ. قَالَ: فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ: «ذَلِكَ جِبْرِيلُ، أَتَاكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ دِينَكُمْ»
