1778 - Hanbal ibn Ishaq ibn Hanbal informed me in Wasit, saying: I heard Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] say: "The Jahmiyyah are of three types: a sect who said: 'The Qur'an is created,' a sect who said: 'It is the Speech of Allah,' and then suspended judgment, and a sect who said: 'Our pronunciations of the Qur'an are created.' In my view, they are all the same in their position."
١٧٧٨ - أَخْبَرَنِي حَنْبَلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ بِوَاسِطٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ: " الْجَهْمِيَّةُ عَلَى ثَلَاثِ ضُرُوبٍ: فِرْقَةٌ قَالُوا: الْقُرْآنُ مَخْلُوقٌ، وَفِرْقَةٌ قَالُوا: كَلَامُ اللَّهِ، وَتَقِفُ، وَفِرْقَةٌ قَالُوا: أَلْفَاظُنَا بِالْقُرْآنِ مَخْلُوقَةٌ، فَهُمْ عِنْدِي فِي الْمَقَالَةِ وَاحِدٌ "
