From the Exhortations of Abū Dharr al-Ghifārī

163 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn ʿUthmān al-ʿIjlī narrated to us: Abū Usāma narrated to us: Sufyān informed me, from Abū al-Muḥajjal, from the son of ʿImrān ibn Ḥiṭṭān, from his father, who said: Abū Dharr said: "A righteous companion is better than solitude, and solitude is better than an evil companion; the dictating of good is better than silence, and silence is better than the dictating of evil; trustworthiness is better than the untrustworthy person, and the untrustworthy person is better than evil suspicion."
