With al-Rabīʿ ibn Abī Rāshid

36 - Muḥammad narrated to me: Mālik ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd al-Salām ibn Ḥarb narrated to me, from Khalaf ibn Ḥawshab, he said: al-Rabīʿ ibn Abī Rāshid said: Recite to me: {O mankind, if you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then indeed We created you from dust, then from a drop of sperm} [Sūrat al-Ḥajj: 5]. He said: So I recited it to him, and he wept, then he said: "By Allāh! Were it not that it would be an Innovation, I would wander—or he said: I would roam—in the mountains." (1).
