164 - Aḥmad ibn Ḥāzim al-Ghifārī narrated to me, he said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Mūsā narrated to us, from Abū Jaʿfar, from Rabīʿ ibn Anas, from Abū al-ʿĀliya regarding His statement: {Lord of the worlds}, he said: Mankind is a world, and the jinn are a world, and besides that there are eighteen thousand worlds, or fourteen thousand worlds—he was in doubt—of angels upon the earth. The earth has four corners, and in each corner there are three thousand five hundred worlds, created by Him for His worship. (1)

165 - Al-Qāsim ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to us, he said: Al-Ḥusayn ibn Dāwūd narrated to us, he said: Ḥajjāj narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj regarding His statement: {Lord of the worlds}, he said: The jinn and mankind. (2)

(1) Report 164 – Abū Jaʿfar: He is al-Rāzī al-Tamīmī, and he is trustworthy; some scholars spoke regarding him, and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr said: "He is trustworthy according to them, knowledgeable in the Tafsir of the Qurʾān." He has a comprehensive biography in Tārīkh Baghdād (11/143–147). This report from Abū al-ʿĀliya was mentioned by Ibn Kathīr (1/45) and al-Suyūṭī (1/13) slightly longer than here, and he also attributed it to Ibn Abī Ḥātim. ١٦٤ - حدثني أحمد بن حازم الغِفَاري، قال: حدثنا عُبيد الله بن موسى، عن أبي جعفر، عن ربيع بن أنس، عن أبي العالية، في قوله: (رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ) ، قال: الإنس عالَمٌ، والجنّ عالم، وما سوى ذلك ثمانية عشر ألف عالم، أو أربعةَ عشر ألف عالم - هو يشكّ - من الملائكة على الأرض، وللأرض أربع زوايا، في كل زاوية ثلاثة آلافِ عالم وخمسمائة عالَمٍ، خلقهم لعبادته. (١)١٦٥ - حدثنا القاسم بن الحسن، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن داود، قال: حدثنا حجاج، عن ابن جُريج، في قوله: (رَبِّ الَعَالَمِينَ) قال: الجن والإنس. (١) الأثر ١٦٤ - أبو جعفر: هو الرازي التميمي، وهو ثقة، تكلم فيه بعضهم، وقال ابن عبد البر: "هو عندهم ثقة، عالم بتفسير القرآن". وله ترجمة وافية في تاريخ بغداد ١١: ١٤٣ - ١٤٧. وهذا الأثر عن أبي العالية ذكره ابن كثير ١: ٤٥ والسيوطي ١: ١٣ بأطول مما هنا قليلا، ونسبه أيضًا لابن أبي حاتم، وقال ابن كثير: "وهذا كلام غريب، يحتاج مثله إلى دليل صحيح". وهذا حق.(٢) الأثر ١٦٥ - سبق الكلام على هذا الإسناد ١٤٤. وهذا الأثر ذكره ابن كثير ١: ٤٤ دون نسبة ولا إسناد.
