So he recited before him the recitation that I had heard him reciting, and the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) said: "Thus was it revealed." Then the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) said: "Recite, O ʿUmar." So I recited the recitation that the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) had taught me, and the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) said: "Thus was it revealed." Then the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) said: "Indeed, this Qurʾān was revealed according to seven modes, so recite whatever is easy from it." (1)
16- Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr narrated to me, he said: ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn ʿAbd al-Wārith narrated to us, he said: Ḥarb ibn Thābit from Banū Sulaym narrated to us, he said: Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥa narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, he said: A man recited in the presence of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (May God be pleased with him), and he corrected him. So he said: "I recited before the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) and he did not correct me."
