ترجمة آلية'Ask him for more,' until he reached six or seven—the doubt is from Abū Kurayb; and Ibn Bashshār said in his narration: 'until he reached seven Ahruf,' without doubting—and each one is sufficient and satisfying." And the wording of the hadith is that of Abū Kurayb. (1)
27- Yūnus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā narrated to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Yaḥyā ibn Ayyūb informed me, from Ḥumayd al-Ṭawīl, from Anas ibn Mālik, from Ubayy ibn Kaʿb, from the Prophet ﷺ, a similar report. And he said in his hadith: "until he reached six Ahruf; he said: Recite it according to seven Ahruf, each one is sufficient and satisfying." (2)

- (1) Hadith 26: This is via two chains of transmission: "Muhammad ibn Bashshar from Ibn Abi 'Adi," and "Abu Kurayb from Muhammad ibn Maymun al-Za'farani," both from Humayd al-Tawil. The first chain of transmission is authentic (sahih) according to the conditions of the two Sheikhs without disagreement. The second chain of transmission contains "Muhammad ibn Maymun al-Za'farani," who is trustworthy; Ibn Ma'in, Abu Dawud, and others declared him trustworthy, while al-Bukhari, al-Nasa'i, and others declared him weak.
And the hadith is authentic (sahih) in any case, as these two were not solitary in narrating it:
For Ahmad narrated it in the Musnad (5/114, 122 of the al-Halabi edition), slightly abridged, from Yahya ibn Sa'id—who is al-Qattan—from Humayd al-Tawil, with this chain of transmission. Then his son 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad narrated it from Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami, from Bishr ibn al-Mufaddal, and from Suwayd ibn Sa'id, from al-Mu'tamar ibn Sulayman, both from Humayd al-Tawil, in meaning.
And Abu 'Ubayd al-Qasim ibn Sallam also narrated it—as quoted from him by Ibn Kathir in al-Fada'il (54)—from Yazid ibn Harun and Yahya ibn Sa'id, both from Humayd, with this chain of transmission in detailed form.
And it will come immediately after this, under number 27, from the narration of Yahya ibn Ayyub from Humayd.
And Ibn Kathir said, after quoting the narration of Abu 'Ubayd: "And al-Nasa'i narrated it from the hadith of Yazid—that is, ibn Harun—and Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan, both from Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, in a similar manner. And likewise it was narrated by Ibn Abi 'Adi, Muhammad ibn Maymun al-Za'farani, and Yahya ibn Ayyub, all of them from Humayd, with it." And this is an indication from him to al-Tabari's three chains of transmission here, and all of them are authentic (sahih) chains of transmission. - (2) Hadith 27: It is a repetition of the hadith before it, and we have already referred to it in its citation of sources.

(١) الحديث ٢٦- هذا بإسنادين: "محمد بن بشار عن ابن أبي عدي"، و "أبو كريب عن محمد بن ميمون الزعفراني"، كلاهما عن حميد الطويل. فالإسناد الأول صحيح على شرط الشيخين دون خلاف. والإسناد الثاني فيه "محمد بن ميمون الزعفراني"، وهو ثقة، وثقه ابن معين وأبو داود وغيرهما، وضعفه البخاري والنسائي وغيرهما.والحديث صحيح بكل حال، إذ لم ينفرد بروايته هذان:فقد رواه أحمد في المسند ٥: ١١٤، ١٢٢ طبعة الحلبي، مختصرًا قليلا، عن يحيى بن سعيد، وهو القطان عن حميد الطويل، بهذا الإسناد. ثم رواه ابنه عبد الله بن أحمد عن محمد بن أبي بكر المقدمي عن بشر بن المفضل، وعن سويد بن سعيد عن المعتمر بن سليمان، كلاهما عن حميد الطويل، بمعناه.ورواه أيضًا أبو عبيد القاسم بن سلام - فيما نقل عنه ابن كثير في الفضائل: ٥٤ عن يزيد بن هارون ويحيى بن سعيد، كلاهما عن حميد، بهذا الإسناد مطولا.وسيأتي عقب هذا، رقم: ٢٧، من رواية يحيى بن أيوب عن حميد.وقال ابن كثير، بعد نقله رواية أبي عبيد: "وقد رواه النسائي من حديث يزيد، وهو ابن هارون، ويحيى بن سعيد القطان، كلاهما عن حميد الطويل عن أنس عن أبي بن كعب، بنحوه. وكذا رواه ابن أبي عدي ومحمد بن ميمون الزعفراني ويحيى بن أيوب، كلهم عن حميد، به" وهذا إشارة منه إلى أسانيد الطبري الثلاثة هنا. وهي كلها أسانيد صحاح.(٢) الحديث ٢٧- هو مكرر الحديث قبله. وقد أشرنا إليه في تخريجه.
