Chapter: The ritually impure person (junub) who hears the adhan, should he repeat what it says?

• Ishaq was asked about a man who hears the adhan while he is in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah); should he repeat what the mu'adhdhin says? He said: "It is more beloved to me that he should say what the mu'adhdhin says, because it is not the Qur'an."

529 - 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Bahr narrated to us, he said: Rashdin ibn Sa'd narrated to us, he said: Zabban ibn Fa'id narrated to us, from Sahl ibn Mu'adh, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you hear the mu'adhdhin, then say as he says."

Chapter: For someone who combines two prayers, do one adhan and one iqamah suffice for him?

• I asked Ishaq, saying: "A man who combines two prayers, do one adhan and one iqamah suffice him?" He said: "One adhan and one iqamah for both prayers together."

530 - Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, he said: Sharik narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, who said: I was with Ibn 'Umar at Jam' (Muzdalifah), and he called the adhan and the iqamah, then he prayed the Maghrib as three [rak'ahs] and the 'Isha' as two rak'ahs; he did not separate between them with any speech, then he said: "This is how I prayed with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in this place."
