791 - 'Abdah ibn 'Abd Allah informed us, saying: Abu Wahb narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak, that he preferred that between the Tarawih [units], when one begins, one should say: "Subhanaka Allahumma..." and seek refuge with Allah (ta'awwudh).

792 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: 'Abd al-Salam narrated to us, from Khusayf, from Abu 'Ubaydah, from 'Abd Allah, that when he began the prayer, he would say: "Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdik, wa tabaraka ismuka, wa ta'ala jadduka, wa la ilaha ghayruk (Glory is to You, O Allah, and with Your praise, blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no god other than You)."

• I heard Ishaq say: "He [the follower] seeks refuge [with Allah] behind the Imam even if he does not recite [al-Fatiha], and he does not say: 'Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim'."

793 - Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Adami narrated to us, saying: 'Arim narrated to us, saying: Khalid narrated to us, saying: I asked 'Ubayd Allah about the man who does not recite behind the Imam; should he seek refuge when he is not reciting? He did not consider that a place for seeking refuge, unless something occurred to him [an interruption], then he should seek refuge.

794 - Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn 'Abd al-Karim narrated to us, saying: 'Amr ibn 'Abd al-Ghaffar ibn 'Amr narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abi Layla informed us, from al-Sha'bi, who said: "There is no seeking refuge required for the one who is behind the Imam."

795 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: 'Ali ibn 'Asim narrated to us, from Hisham, from al-Hasan, who said: "Seeking refuge is only for the one who recites"; meaning: for the Imam."
