Chapter: The Taslim (Salutation) in the Prostration of the Qur'an

• I said to Ahmad: 'A man recites a [verse of] prostration of the Qur'an, so he prostrates; should he perform Taslim?' He said: 'Yes.' I said: 'A quiet Taslim to his right?' He said: 'Yes.'

• And it was said to Ahmad: 'Should he perform Tashahhud when he reads [a verse of] prostration?' He said: 'No, but he should perform Taslim.'

• I heard Ishaq say: 'When he raises his head from the prostration, he should say Takbir, then sit up straight, and perform Taslim to his right: "Al-salamu 'alaykum"; he should not add anything to that.'

962 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Waki' informed us, from Shu'bah, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, who said: 'I was walking with Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami towards the Euphrates, and he recited a [verse of] prostration, so he gestured with it [performed it], then performed one Taslim, then said: "This is how I saw Ibn Mas'ud do it."

963 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: al-Thaqafi informed us, from Khalid al-Hadhdha', from Abu Qilabah and Muhammad ibn Sirin, who both said: "When he reads a [verse of] prostration, he should say Takbir, then prostrate, and when he raises his head, he should say Takbir."

Khalid said: "And everything that one enters with Takbir, one does not exit except with Taslim."

964 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Waki' narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Hakam, from Abu al-Ahwas, that he read a [verse of] prostration, so he prostrated in it, then performed Taslim.'
