"And his soul prompted him to kill his brother." Mujahid said: This means: his soul encouraged him, so he killed him. "And he became one of the losers," those who have lost Paradise.
Yahya: From Khalid, from al-Hasan, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah has set forth for you a parable in the two sons of Adam; so take the better of the two, and leave their evil one."
﴿فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُ نَفْسُهُ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ﴾ قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: يَعْنِي: فَشَجَّعَتْهُ نَفْسُهُ فَقتله ﴿فَأصْبح من الخاسرين﴾ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا الْجَنَّةَ.
يحيى: عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ ضَرَبَ لَكُمُ ابْنَيْ آدَمَ مَثَلًا؛ فَخُذُوا بِخَيْرِهِمَا، ودعوا شرهما ".
