537 - And in the narration of 'Isa ibn Yunus: "Then those who were struck by the thunderbolt were resurrected, and others were struck by the thunderbolt, then they were resurrected." Then Allah said: "So the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on," up to His saying: "That you may be grateful."
538 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "So the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on," he said: The thunderbolt took them, meaning they died.
539 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas regarding His saying: "So the thunderbolt took you," he said: They were the seventy whom Moses chose and who set out with him. He said: They heard speech, then they said, "We will not believe you until we see Allah outright." He said: Then they heard a sound, and they were struck by the thunderbolt, meaning they died.

540 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: Regarding His saying: "And when you said, 'O Moses, we will not believe you until we see Allah outright,' so the thunderbolt took you," and the thunderbolt is fire.
And the second interpretation:
541 - My father narrated to us, Harun ibn Zayd ibn Abi al-Zarqa' narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Muhaysin, from his father, he said: I saw Marwan ibn al-Hakam upon the pulpit of Mecca, and I heard him while he was delivering a sermon saying: "So the thunderbolt took you," and the thunderbolt is from the sky, a cry from the sky.
His saying: "While you were looking on"
542 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sadaqah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Urwah ibn Ruwaym saying: "While you were looking on," he said: Some of you were struck by the thunderbolt while others were looking on.
His saying: "Then We resurrected you after your death"
543 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah: Regarding His saying: "So the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on, then We resurrected you after your death," Allah resurrected them so they could complete the remainder of their lifespans.
544 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas: Regarding His saying: "Then We resurrected you after your death," they were resurrected after their death because that death of theirs was a punishment for them, so they were resurrected after death to fulfill their allotted lifespans.
