631 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us from his father from al-Rabi' ibn Anas regarding: "And they incurred wrath from Allah," he said: Wrath from Allah has befallen them. It was narrated from al-Dahhak similarly.
His saying: "That is because they used to disbelieve in the verses of Allah and kill the prophets without right"
632 - Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from al-A'mash from Ibrahim from Abu Ma'mar al-Azdi from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud who said: The Children of Israel would kill three hundred prophets in a single day, then they would stand up and sell vegetables at the end of the day.
His saying: "That is because they disobeyed and used to transgress"
633 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us from Qatadah: "That is because they disobeyed and used to transgress," avoid disobedience and transgression, for by them perished those who perished before you from among the people.
His saying: "Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews and the Christians"
634 - My father narrated to us, from Ibn Abi 'Umar al-'Adani, Sufyan narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih from Mujahid who said: Salman said: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about the people of a religion I had been with, and he mentioned their prayers and their worship, then it was revealed: "Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews and the Christians and the Sabaeans, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day."
635 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas: "Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews and the Christians and the Sabaeans, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteous deeds." Allah then revealed after that: "And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers."

٦٣١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أبيه عن الربيع بن أنس وباؤ بِغَضَبٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ فَحَدَثَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ غَضَبٌ. وَرُوِي عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ: ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَكْفُرُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ النَّبِيِّينَ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ
٦٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ الأَزْدِيِّ عَنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: كَانَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي الْيَوْمِ تقتل ثلاثمائة نَبِيٍّ ثُمَّ تَقُومُ بَقْلِهِمْ مِنْ آخِرِ النَّهَارِ.
قَوْلُهُ: ذَلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوْا وَكَانُوا يَعْتَدُونَ
٦٣٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ثنا يَزِيدُ ثنا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ذَلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوْا وَكَانُوا يَعْتَدُونَ اجْتَنِبُوا الْمَعْصِيَةَ وَالْعُدْوَانَ فَإِنَّ بِهِمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ قَبْلَكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ.
قَوْلُهُ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالنَّصَارَى
٦٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيِّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ سَلْمَانُ: سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- عَنْ أَهْلِ دِينٍ كُنْتُ مَعَهُم، فَذَكَرَ مِنْ صَلاتِهِمْ وَعِبَادَتِهِمْ، فَنَزَلَتْ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالنَّصَارَى وَالصَّابِئِينَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ.
٦٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ كَاتِبُ اللَّيْثِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَالَّذِينَ هَادُوا وَالنَّصَارَى وَالصَّابِئِينَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا.
فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ: وَمَنْ يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الإِسْلامِ دِينًا فَلَنْ يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُ، وَهُوَ فِي الآخرة من الخاسرين «١» .
