His saying: "So We said: Strike him with part of it"
750 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Affan ibn Muslim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Ziyad narrated to us, Sulayman al-A'mash narrated to us, from al-Minhal ibn 'Amr, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: The people of the cow of the Children of Israel sought it for forty years until they found it with a man among some cattle of his, and it was a cow he was fond of. He said: They kept offering him [payment] for it, and he would refuse until they gave him its hide's weight in gold dinars. Then they slaughtered it and struck him with a limb of it, and he stood up, his jugular veins gushing blood. They said to him: "Who killed you?" He replied: "So-and-so killed me."
751 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Walid narrated to us, Qays narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Masruq, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "So We said: Strike him with part of it," he said: He was struck with the bone that is adjacent to the cartilage.
752 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj and 'Amr al-Awdi narrated to us, both said: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from al-Nadr Abu 'Arabiyy, from 'Ikrimah regarding: "So We said: Strike him with part of it," he was struck with its thigh, and he stood up and said: "So-and-so killed me."
It was narrated from Mujahid and Qatadah similarly.
His saying: "Thus does Allah bring the dead to life"
753 - Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Ya'la ibn 'Ata' informed me, he said: I heard Waki' ibn 'Ads narrating from Abu Razin al-'Uqayli who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, how does Allah bring the dead to life?" He replied: "Have you not passed by a barren valley of your people, and then passed by it when it was green?" He said, "Yes." He said: "Such is the resurrection," or he said: "Thus does Allah bring the dead to life."
His saying: "And He shows you His signs that you might reason"
754 - al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bashshar al-Wasiti narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to me, from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan who said: They struck him with part of it, and he stood up alive and said: "So-and-so killed me," then he died. He did not say anything more than that. That is when He says: "Thus does Allah bring the dead to life, and He shows you His signs that you might reason."
