[His saying: "And what was revealed to the two angels"]

[First View]

996 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And what was revealed to the two angels," he said: "The causing of separation between a man and his wife."

Second View:

997 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn 'Atiyyah informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas, his saying: "And what was revealed to the two angels," for he says: "Allah did not reveal magic."

998 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, from Abu al-'Aliyah, he said: Allah said: "And what was revealed to the two angels," he said: "He did not reveal magic to them. He says: They both taught belief and disbelief. Magic is from disbelief, and they both prohibited it most strictly." It was reported from Khalid ibn Abi 'Imran and al-Rabi' ibn Anas something similar.

999 - I was narrated from 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa, Fudayl ibn Marzuq narrated to us, from 'Atiyyah: "And what was revealed to the two angels," he said: "Magic was not revealed to Gabriel and Michael."

1000 - al-Fadl ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Mu'alla ibn Asad narrated to us, Bakr ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Abi Ja'far [said] that 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza used to recite it: "And what was revealed to the two angels, David and Solomon."

Third View:

1001 - al-Fadl ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah reported from Ibn Abi Khalid, from 'Umayr ibn Sa'id, from 'Ali, he said: "They are two angels from the angels of the heaven," meaning: "And what was revealed to the two angels."

(1). Here there is a lacuna in the manuscript, page number (69), which is the interpretation of the verse of magic, but I found it with Dr. Ahmad 'Abd Allah al-Zahrani in his book 'Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim'—published by Dar al-Madinah—and I completed it from there.
