His statement: "of the House and Ishmael"

- Abu Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn 'Umar narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Nafi' narrated to us, from Kathir ibn Kathir ibn al-Muttalib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, that he said: Abraham said, "O Ishmael, your Lord has commanded me to build a House for Him." He said, "Build, and obey your Lord." He said, "And He has commanded me that you assist me in that." He said: So Ishmael began to hand stones to Abraham. They both began to build, saying: "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing." Then, when he had raised the building and the old man was unable to lift the stones, he stood upon the Maqam (station) and Ishmael began to hand him the stones, and they were saying: "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing."

- Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar reported, from Ayyub and Kathir ibn Kathir ibn al-Muttalib ibn Abi Wada'ah—one of them adding to the other—from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, he said: Ibn 'Abbas said: Abraham said, "O Ishmael, Allah has commanded me with a command." He said, "Then do what your Lord has commanded you." He said, "And will you assist me?" He said, "And I will assist you." He said, "Verily, Allah has commanded me to build a House here," and he pointed to a mound raised above what was around it. At that, they raised the foundations of the House. Ishmael began to bring the stones, and Abraham would build, until when the building was raised, he brought this stone and placed it for him, so he stood upon it while he was building, and Ishmael was handing him the stone, and they were both saying: "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing."

- Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Bishr ibn 'Asim, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, from Ka'b al-Ahbar, he said: The House was like froth on the water forty years before Allah created the earth, and from it the earth was spread out.

- And 'Ali ibn Abi Talib narrated to us: That Abraham arrived from Armenia, and the Sakinah (divine presence) was with him, guiding him until he occupied the site of the House just as a spider occupies a house. He said: So he uncovered stones, a single stone of which only thirty men could lift. I said, "O Abu Muhammad, but Allah says: 'And when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House.'" He said: "That was after."

- Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, he said: Verily, Allah (the Almighty and Majestic) commanded Abraham to build the House, saying: "You and Ishmael build My House for those who perform Tawaf, those who stay for worship, and those who bow and prostrate." So Abraham departed until he came to Makkah and stood, he and Ishmael, and they took
