مجلد 1 · صفحة 237[سورة البقرة (٢) : آية ١٤٢]

الترجمة · EN

1322 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salama narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: The freed slave of the family of Zayd ibn Thabit, namely Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad, narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: 'Abd Allah ibn Suriya al-A'war said to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace): "There is no guidance except that which we are upon, so follow us, O Muhammad, and you will be guided." The Christians said something similar, so Allah revealed: "That is a nation which has passed on. It will have what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do."

[His saying, the Almighty: "The foolish among the people will say"]

[The first interpretation]

1323 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Bara': "The foolish will say," he said: The Jews. It was reported from Ibn 'Abbas, Mujahid, and al-Hasan, and similar to that.

And the second interpretation:

1324 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: So Allah revealed regarding the hypocrites: "The foolish among the people will say, 'What has turned them away from their qibla which they used to face?'"

His saying: "What has turned them away from their qibla"

1325 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala'—that is Abu Kurayb—narrated to us, Ibn Abi Za'idah narrated to us, from Warqa', from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, and from a man, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Ata', and Mujahid—some of them adding to others: "What has turned them away"—i.e., what has diverted them.

His saying: "What has turned them away from their qibla which they used to face"

1326 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj and 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed us, from 'Ata', from Ibn 'Abbas: "The foolish among the people will say, 'What has turned them away from their qibla which they used to face?'"—they mean the Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), then He abrogated it, and Allah diverted it to the Ancient House (the Ka'bah).

1327 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salama ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Muhammad, the freed slave of the family of Zayd, narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr,
