The Second Interpretation:
1376 - My father narrated to us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Jarir reported to us, from Layth, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "For each is a direction to which he turns," he said: He commanded every people to pray towards the Ka'bah. Similar to this was narrated from al-Hasan.
The Third Interpretation:
1377 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq reported to us, Ma'mar reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "For each is a direction to which he turns," he said: It is their prayer towards Bayt al-Maqdis, and their prayer towards the Ka'bah.
His saying: "[He] turns [to it]."
1378 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Nasr ibn 'Ali narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Harun al-Nahwi, from Hanzalah, from Shahr, from Ibn 'Abbas that he recited: "For each is a direction to which he turns" (muwalliha), as an attributive [adjective]. He said: He faces it. He said: They prayed towards Bayt al-Maqdis once, and towards the Ka'bah once.
His saying: "Race to [all that is] good."
[The First Interpretation]
1379 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, His saying: "Race to [all that is] good," he says: Hasten towards good deeds. Similar to this was narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas.
The Second Interpretation:
1380 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Zayd ibn Hubab narrated to us, from Abu Sinan, from al-Dahhak, [concerning] "Race to [all that is] good," he said: The Nation of Muhammad.
The Third Interpretation:
1381 - al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Bashshar narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan, His saying: "Race to [all that is] good," he said: So race towards good deeds, and remain steadfast upon your Qiblah, for it is the direction of Allah which He has directed whoever believes in His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and believes in Him.
