His saying: "Rather, they are alive, but you do not perceive."
1411 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Hannad ibn al-Sari narrated to us, Isma'il ibn al-Mukhtar narrated to us, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who said: "The souls of the martyrs are in green birds, then their abode is toward lamps hanging from the Throne. The Lord, Blessed and Exalted, says: 'Do you know of any honor greater than the honor you have been granted?' They reply: 'No, except that we wish that You would return our souls to our bodies so that we may fight once again in Your cause.'"
1412 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding: "And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah: 'Dead.' Rather, they are alive," he said: He says they are alive in the chests of green birds, flying in Paradise wherever they wish, and eating from wherever they wish.
His saying: "And We will surely test you"
1413 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah informed me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "And We will surely test you," meaning: We will surely try you, meaning: the believers.
1414 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik, from 'Ata', regarding "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger," he said: The companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
1415 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Ubayd Allah ibn Hakim al-Halabi narrated to us, Abu Sahl 'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik, from 'Ata', regarding "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger," he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companions.
His saying: "With something of fear and hunger"
1416 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger," he said: Allah, Glory be to Him, informed the believers that the world is a dwelling of trial and that He is testing them within it.
