[His saying: "in the Unseen"]

[The first interpretation]

66 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from 'Amarah ibn 'Umayr, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, who said: They mentioned the companions of Muhammad and their faith in the presence of 'Abd Allah. 'Abd Allah said: "The affair of Muhammad was clear to those who saw him. By Him besides Whom there is no god, no believer has ever believed with a faith superior to faith in the Unseen." He then recited: "Those who believe in the Unseen" up to his saying: "...they spend."

67 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam al-'Asqalani narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "Those who believe in the Unseen," he said: "They believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, His Paradise, His Fire, and meeting Him. And they believe in life after death, and in the Resurrection. All of this is the Unseen."

68 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "As for 'Those who believe in the Unseen,' they are the believers among the Arabs. As for 'the Unseen,' it is that which is hidden from the servants regarding the affair of Paradise, the affair of the Fire, and what has been mentioned in the Qur'an; their affirmation of that was not due to an original scripture or knowledge they possessed."

[The second interpretation]

71 - My father narrated to us, Shihab ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Humayd narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid: "[They] believe in the Unseen," he said: "[They] believe in the Unseen of Islam."
