revealed in Ramadan, on the Night of Decree, and on a blessed night, in its entirety. Then, it was revealed according to the positions of the stars, across the months and the days. It was also narrated from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr similarly, and in it, it was mentioned: 'to a house in the heaven called Bayt al-‘Izzah' (The House of Might).

1651 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash‘ath narrated to us, Hammu ibn Nuh al-Balkhi narrated to us, Abu Mu‘adh Khalid ibn Sulayman al-Huddani narrated to us, Abu Muslih Nasr ibn Musharis narrated to us, from al-Dahhak regarding 'The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed,' he says: 'The one who revealed its fasting, the Quran.'

His saying: 'Guidance for mankind'

1652 - And with the same chain, from Ibn Jurayj regarding 'Guidance for mankind,' he said: 'They are guided by it.'

1653 - ‘Ali ibn al-Mubarak informed us in what he wrote to me, Zayd ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Najih regarding 'The month of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed,' he said: 'It reached me that the Quran used to be revealed during it until the revelation ceased, and until Muhammad (peace be upon him) died. Every part of the Quran that was to be revealed in that year would be revealed on the Night of Decree, and it would descend from the Seventh Heaven to Jibril in the Lowest Heaven. Jibril would not descend with it to Muhammad (peace be upon him) except with what his Lord the Exalted commanded him.'

His saying: 'And clear proofs of the guidance'

1654 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, ‘Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding 'Guidance for mankind and clear proofs of the guidance and the Criterion (al-Furqan).' As for 'and clear proofs of the guidance,' it means clear proofs of the lawful and the unlawful.'

His saying: 'And the Criterion (al-Furqan)'

1655 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Abu Mu‘awiyah narrated to us, from Isma‘il, from Abu Salih regarding 'The Criterion,' he said: 'The Torah.'

His saying: 'So whoever among you witnesses the month, let him fast it'
