His saying: "And they will abide therein forever."

268 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad—meaning Ibn Ishaq—he said in what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And they will abide therein forever," meaning: they will abide therein eternally. He is informing them that the reward for good and evil is established for its people forever, having no end.

269 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "And they will abide therein forever," meaning: they will not die.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example—that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it."

270 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad ibn al-Jarrah al-'Asqalani narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example—that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it." When their appointed times come and their spans are cut off, they become like the mosquito; it lives as long as it is hungry and dies when it is satiated.

So likewise, these people for whom this example was presented, when they are filled with the life of this world and sated, Allah takes them and destroys them.

271 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example—that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it." The examples are both the great and the small among them. The believers believe in it and know that it is the truth from their Lord; Allah takes them and destroys them.

272 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example—that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it." The examples are both the great and the small among them. The believers believe in it and know that it is the truth from their Lord, and Allah guides them by it.

273 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: When Allah presented these two examples for the hypocrites, the hypocrites said: "Allah is too high and too exalted to present these examples." So Allah revealed: "Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example—that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it."
