When he tasted the tree, his garment fell from him, and the first thing that appeared of him was his private part. When he looked at his private part, he began to run through Paradise, but a tree caught his hair and he struggled with it. The Most Gracious called out to him: "O Adam, are you fleeing from Me?" When he heard the words of the Most Gracious, he said: "O Lord, no, but out of shame."

389 - Ja'far ibn Ahmad ibn al-Hakam al-Qumasi narrated to me in the year 254 AH, Sulaym ibn Mansur ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, 'Ali ibn 'Asim narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: When Adam tasted from the tree, he fled running, and a tree became entangled in his hair. It was called out to him: "O Adam, are you fleeing from Me?" He said: "Rather, out of shame before You." He said: "O Adam, leave My neighborhood, for by My might, I will not let whoever disobeys Me dwell therein. Even if I were to create as many beings as the earth could hold like you, then they disobeyed Me, I would house them in the abode of the disobedient."

390 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi narrated to us, al-Rabi' ibn Anas said: Adam was removed from Paradise at the ninth or tenth hour. Adam took with him a branch from the trees of Paradise, and upon his head was a crown from the trees of Paradise, which is the garland from the leaves of Paradise.

His saying: "And We said, 'Descend'"

391 - Abu Harun Harun Muhammad ibn Khalid al-Kharraz narrated to us, Yahya ibn Ziyad narrated to us, Ibn Abi al-Khatib narrated to me, Damrah informed me, from Raja' ibn Abi Salamah, he said: Adam was made to descend with his hands upon his knees, bowing his head, and Iblis was made to descend with his fingers intertwined, raising his head toward the sky.

392 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn Sabiq narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Abi Qays narrated to us, from Abu 'Adi—that is, al-Zubayr ibn 'Adi—from Ibn 'Umar, he said: Adam was made to descend at al-Safa, and Hawwa' (Eve) at al-Marwah.

393 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Muqaddami narrated to us, 'Imran ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: The first place Allah caused Adam to descend to on earth was Dahna, a land in India.
