تفسير ابن أبي حاتم
مجلد 10 · صفحة 109[سورة الزمر (٣٩) : آية ١٧]

الترجمة · EN

They sacrificed a graying man, whose mark of prostration was evident... He would cut through the night with glorification and recitation.

18379 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "fearing the Hereafter," he says: Fearing the punishment of the Hereafter.

His saying, the Exalted: "And those who have avoided Taghut (false deities) from worshipping them."

18380 - From Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "And those who have avoided Taghut from worshipping them," he said: These two verses were revealed concerning three individuals who, during the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic period), would say: 'There is no god but Allah.' They are Zayd ibn Amr ibn Nufayl, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari, and Salman al-Farisi.

18381 - From Ibn Zayd he said: Taghut is Satan. He is singular here, yet he is a group, similar to His saying: "O mankind, what has deceived you?" He said: It is for all people to whom the people said [so]. It is only one [referring to the singular form used for a group].

His saying, the Exalted: "Have you not seen that Allah has sent down rain from the sky and caused it to flow as springs in the earth?"

18382 - Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Amr ibn Ali narrated to us, Abu Qutaybah Utbah ibn Yaqzan narrated to us, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying, the Exalted: "Have you not seen that Allah has sent down rain from the sky and caused it to flow as springs in the earth," he said: There is no water on earth that did not descend from the sky, but there are veins in the earth that change it. That is the meaning of His saying, the Exalted: "And caused it to flow as springs in the earth." Whoever desires that the salty water return to being fresh, let him go up.

18383 - From Abdullah ibn Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, he said: I said to my grandmother Asma, may Allah be pleased with them both: How did the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) act when they recited the Quran? She replied: They were as Allah, the Exalted, described them—their eyes would shed tears and their skins would shudder. I said: Indeed, some people here, when they hear that, are overcome by a swoon. She said: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan.

18384 - From al-Faraj ibn Zayd al-Kula'i, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: They said to Ali, may Allah be pleased with him: You have appointed a disbeliever and a hypocrite as an arbitrator. He said: I did not appoint a creature to judge; I have not appointed anyone but the Quran.
