He said: When the people of the Fire fall into the Fire, creatures from among the creation of Allah will fall into it, having been ruined by their deeds. Some will be reached by the Fire up to their knees, and some will be engulfed by the Fire over their entire body except for their faces, as Allah has forbidden the Fire from touching their images. They will call out in the Fire, saying: "Who will intercede for us with our Lord so that He may bring us out of the Fire?" They will say: "And who is more worthy of that than your father Adam?" The believers will go to Adam and say: "Allah created you with His hand, breathed into you from His spirit, and spoke to you." Adam will recall his sin and say: "I am not the one for that, but you should go to Noah, for he is the first of the messengers of Allah." They will go to Noah, peace be upon him, and mention that to him. He will recall a sin and say: "I am not the one for that, but you should go to Abraham, for Allah took him as a friend (Khalil)." Abraham will be approached and asked for that, and he will recall a sin and say: "I am not the one for that, but you should go to Moses, for Allah drew him near as a confidant, spoke to him, and sent down the Torah to him." Moses will be approached and asked for that; he will recall a sin and say: "I am not the one for that, but you should go to the Spirit of Allah and His Word, Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him." Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, will be approached and asked for that, and he will say: "I am not the one for that, but you should go to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." They will come to me, and I have three intercessions promised to me by my Lord. I will depart until I come to the gate of Paradise, take hold of the ring of the gate, and ask for it to be opened; it will be opened for me. I will fall prostrate, and I will be granted permission to praise and glorify Him in a way that no one among His creation has been granted before. Then He will say: "Raise your head, O Muhammad; intercede and your intercession will be accepted; ask and it shall be granted." When I raise my head, He will say—and He is more knowing—: "What is your matter?" I will say: "O Lord, You promised me the intercession, so let me intercede."

I will say: "O Lord, whoever from my nation has fallen into the Fire?" Allah will say: "Bring out those whose image you recognize." They will be brought out, until there remains no prophet or martyr but that he has been allowed to intercede. Then Allah will say: "Bring out whoever you find in his heart the weight of a dinar of goodness." They will be brought out until none of them remains, and until there remains no one in the Fire who has ever done any good at all, and no one remains who has an intercession but that he has interceded.

Even Iblis will stretch himself in the Fire, hoping that he might be interceded for, because of what he sees of the mercy of Allah. Then Allah will say: "I remain, and I am the Most Merciful of those who show mercy." He will take a handful, and out of it will come those whom no one can count but Him. He will cause them to grow on a river called the River of Life, and they will sprout in it just as a seed sprouts in the silt of a flood. What is exposed to the sun will be green, and what is in the shade will be yellow. They will sprout like pearls, with "The people of Hell, freed by the All-Merciful" written on their necks; they never did any good for Allah, but they have the declaration of oneness (Tawhid). They will remain in Paradise for as long as Allah wills.
