and upon the family of Ibrahim; indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. And bless Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim; indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.' Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla used to say: 'And upon us with them (1).'
His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger."
17773 - From Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with both of them, regarding His saying: "Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger" (the verse), he said: "It was revealed concerning those who slandered the Prophet (peace be upon him) when he took Safiyyah bint Huyayy, may God be pleased with her (2)."
17774 - From Qatadah, may God be pleased with him, regarding the verse, he said: "It was mentioned to us that the Prophet of God (peace be upon him) used to say in what he narrates from his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic: 'The son of Adam has insulted Me, and it was not befitting for him to insult Me; and he has denied Me, and it was not befitting for him to deny Me. As for his insulting Me, it is his saying: Allah has taken a son, while I am the One, the Everlasting Sustainer (al-Samad). And as for his denying Me, it is his saying: He will not bring me back as He began me.' Qatadah said: Ka'b, may God be pleased with him, used to say: 'A neck of fire will emerge on the Day of Resurrection and say: O people, I have been entrusted with three of you: every mighty, noble person; every stubborn tyrant; and whoever called upon another god with Allah. It will snatch them up just as a bird snatches grain from the ground, then it will fold over them and they will enter the Fire. Then another neck will emerge and say: O people, I have been entrusted with three of you: whoever denied Allah, whoever lied about Allah, and whoever abused Allah. As for the one who denied Allah, it is whoever claimed that Allah will not resurrect him after death. As for the one who lied about Allah, it is whoever claimed that Allah has taken a son. And as for the one who abused Allah, they are those who make images, claiming they are bringing to life. It will snatch them up just as a bird snatches grain from the ground, then it will fold over them and they will enter the Fire (3).'
17775 - From Ikrimah, may God be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Indeed, those who abuse Allah and His Messenger," he said: "They are the makers of images (4)."
His saying, the Exalted: "And those who harm believing men and believing women."
17776 - From Mujahid, may God be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And those who harm believing men and believing women," he said: "They attack them for what they did not earn," meaning: for what they did not do. "And they have borne a falsehood," he said: "A sin (5)."
