His saying, the Almighty: "Or do those in whose hearts is disease think that Allah will not expose their hatred?"

18590 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Or do those in whose hearts is disease think that Allah will not expose their hatred?" He said: "Their deeds, their malice, and the envy that is in their hearts." Then, Allah later guided the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) regarding the hypocrites, so he would call out the hypocrites by the names of the men among them.(1)

His saying, the Almighty: "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds."

18591 - From Abu al-Aliyah, he said: "The companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to believe that no sin could cause harm alongside the declaration of 'There is no god but Allah,' just as no deed could be of benefit alongside polytheism, until the verse was revealed: 'Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds,' so they feared that a sin might invalidate their deeds."(2)

His saying, the Almighty: "And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people."

18592 - From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) he said: "When 'And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people' was revealed, it was asked, 'Who are these?' while Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) was next to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). He replied: 'They are the Persians, and this one and his people.'"(3)

18593 - From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) recited this verse: "And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people, and they will not be the likes of you." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these people who, if we turn away, will replace us and then not be like us?" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) struck the shoulder of Salman and then said: "This one and his people. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if faith were tethered to the Pleiades, men from Persia would surely attain it."(4)
