His saying, the Almighty: "And the sea kept filled (al-bahr al-masjur)."

18676 - From 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And the sea kept filled," he said: A sea in the heaven beneath the Throne.(1)

18677 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "And the sea kept filled," he said: The restrained.(2)

18678 - From Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, he said: 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said to a man from the Jews: Where is Hell? He said: It is the sea. 'Ali said: I consider him to be truthful, and he recited: "And the sea kept filled," and "And when the seas are filled with fire (sujjirat)."(3)

18679 - Al-'Ala' ibn Badr said: The sea is called 'kept filled' (masjur) only because no water is drunk from it, nor is any crop irrigated by it, and such will be the seas on the Day of Resurrection.(4)

His saying, the Almighty: "On the Day the heaven will sway with a swaying."

18680 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "On the Day the heaven will sway with a swaying," he said: It will be shaken. And regarding His saying: "On the Day they are pushed (yud'awna)," he said: They are shoved.(5)

His saying, the Almighty: "On the Day they are shoved into the fire of Hell."

18681 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "On the Day they are shoved into the fire of Hell," he said: Pushed on their necks until they arrive at the Fire.(6)

His saying, the Almighty: "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."

18682 - Through the chain of 'Ikrimah, he said: Ibn 'Abbas said regarding Allah's saying to the people of Paradise: "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." His saying: "In satisfaction (hani'an)," meaning: you will not die therein. Upon that, they said: "Are we then not to die, except our first death, and we will not be punished?"(7)
