Surah al-Najm (The Star)
53
His saying, the Almighty: "By the star when it descends."
18693 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "By the star when it descends," he said: The Pleiades (al-Thurayya) when it sets. In one wording: when it falls with the dawn; and in another wording, he said: The Pleiades when it falls.(1)
His saying, the Almighty: "One mighty in power."
18694 - From al-Rabi', may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Taught to him by one mighty in power," he said: Gabriel.(2)
His saying, the Almighty: "One of soundness (dhu mirrah)."
18695 - From al-Hasan regarding His saying: "One of soundness," he said: One of [perfect] creation.(3)
His saying, the Almighty: "While he was at the higher horizon."
18696 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Masraf ibn 'Amr al-Yami Abu al-Qasim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn Talhah ibn Masraf narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from al-Walid—he is the son of Qays—from Ishaq ibn Abi al-Kahtalah—I think he mentioned him—from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not see Gabriel in his [original] form except twice. As for the first: he asked him to see him in his [original] form, so he filled the horizon. As for the second: he was with him where he ascended, and that is His saying: "While he was at the higher horizon."(4)
His saying, the Almighty: "The heart did not lie about what it saw."
18697 - And al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur informed me, he said: I asked 'Ikrimah about "The heart did not lie about what it saw," and he said:
