17814 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Harun ibn Zayd ibn Abi al-Zarqa' al-Mawsili narrated to us, [saying]: my father narrated to us, [saying]: Hisham ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam regarding this verse: "Indeed, We offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains," and man said: "[I accept it] between my ears and my shoulder." Then God Almighty said: "I will aid you with it," meaning: "I will aid you with two covers; so if they call you towards what I dislike, then close them. And I will aid you with your tongue with two covers; so if it calls you towards what I dislike, then close it. And I will aid you regarding your private parts with clothing, so do not uncover them towards what I dislike" (1).
17815 - From Mujahid, may God be pleased with him, regarding the verse, he said: When God created the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, He offered the Trust to them, but they did not accept it. Then, when He created Adam, peace be upon him, He offered it to him. He said: "O Lord, and what is it?" He said: "It is that if you do good, I will reward you, and if you do evil, I will punish you." He said: "Then I have undertaken it, O Lord." He said: "Then there was no time between his undertaking it and his being expelled [from Paradise] except the duration between the Noon (Dhuhr) and the Afternoon (Asr) prayers" (2).
17816 - From Ibn Ashu' regarding the verse, he said: He offered the action to them and assigned for them the reward, so they clamored for three days and their nights, and said: "Our Lord, we have no capacity for the action, nor do we desire the reward" (3).
17817 - From Abu Ka'b, may God be pleased with him, he said: Of the Trust is that a woman is entrusted with her private parts (4).
