His saying, the Almighty: "The unlettered"

18889 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "It is He who sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves" - he said: The Arabs. "And others of them who have not yet joined them" - he said: The non-Arabs (al-'Ajam). (1)

18890 - 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Bilal narrated to us, from Thawr, from Abu al-Ghayth, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: We were sitting with the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), when Surah al-Jumu'ah was revealed to him: "And others of them who have not yet joined them." They said: "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He did not answer them until he was asked three times, and among us was Salman the Persian. So the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) placed his hand on Salman, then said: "If faith were at the Pleiades, men—or a man—from these people would reach it." (2)

18891 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn al-'Ala' al-Zubaydi narrated to us, al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, Abu Muhammad 'Isa ibn Musa narrated to us, from Abu Hazim, from Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Indeed, in the loins of the loins of the loins of men from my Companions, there are men and women from my nation who will enter Paradise without reckoning." Then he recited: "And others of them who have not yet joined them," meaning the remainder of those who remain from the nation of Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). (3)

His saying, the Almighty: "Volumes"

18892 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "[as of] volumes [of books]" - he said: Books. (4)

18893 - From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "[as of] volumes [of books]" - he said: Books; and the book is called a 'sifr' (volume) in Nabataean. (5)
