Surat al-Talaq

65

His saying, the Almighty: "O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women."

18907 - From Anas, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) divorced Hafsa, so she went to her family. Then Allah revealed: "O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period." It was said to him: "Take her back, for she is a woman who fasts much and prays much, and she is one of your wives in Paradise." (1)

18908 - From Muqatil, he said: It has reached us regarding His saying: "O Prophet, when you [Muslims] divorce women, divorce them for [the commencement of] their waiting period," that it was revealed concerning 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As, Tufayl ibn al-Harith, and 'Amr ibn Sa'id ibn al-'As. (2)

His saying, the Almighty: "Perhaps Allah will bring about after that a [different] matter."

18909 - From Fatima bint Qays regarding His saying: "Perhaps Allah will bring about after that a [different] matter," [meaning] perhaps He will instill a desire [in him] to take her back. (3)

His saying, the Almighty: "And whoever fears Allah—He will make for him a way out."

18910 - From Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, he said: This verse was revealed: "And whoever fears Allah—He will make for him a way out," concerning a man from Ashja' who was struck by hardship and tribulation. The enemy had captured his son, so he came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: "Fear Allah and be patient." Then his son, who was a captive, returned, for Allah had released him, and he came to them having acquired some goats. He came and mentioned that to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so it was revealed, and the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "They are yours." (4)

18911 - From Muhammad ibn Ishaq, the freed slave of Abu Qays ibn Makhrama, he said: Malik al-Ashja'i came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and said to him: "My son 'Awf has been captured." He said to him: "Send word to him that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) commands you to frequently say, 'There is no power and no strength except by Allah.'"
