The jinn and humans will say: "We will bring you the news." So they will set off to the sea, and behold, it will be fire blazing. While they are in that state, the earth will split open with a single cleavage to the seventh earth and to the seventh heaven. While they are in that state, a wind will come to them and cause them to die.

His (Exalted is He) saying: "And when the she-camels ten months pregnant are neglected (ʿuṭṭilat)."

19144 - From Qatāda (may Allāh be pleased with him) regarding "When the sun is wrapped up (kuwwirat)," he said: "Its light will depart." Regarding "And when the stars fall, dispersing (inkadarat)," he said: "They will fall and scatter." Regarding "And when the she-camels ten months pregnant are neglected (ʿuṭṭilat)," he said: "Their owners will leave them to wander; what preoccupied them will come upon them, so they will not be milked, nor will they be cared for. There was no wealth in the world more pleasing to them than these." Regarding "And when the wild beasts are gathered (ḥushirat)," he said: "These creatures will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, and Allāh will judge between them as He wills." Regarding "And when the seas are set on fire (sujjirat)," he said: "Their water will depart, and not a drop will remain of it." Regarding "And when the souls are paired (zuwwijat)," he said: "Every person will be joined with his like: the Jew with the Jew and the Christian with the Christian." Regarding "And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked (suʾilat)," he said: "In some readings it is (saʾalat), 'For what sin she was killed?'" He said: "For no sin. The people of the Jāhiliyyah used to kill one of them his daughter and feed his dog, so Allāh reproached them for that." Regarding "And when the pages are spread open (nushirat)," he said: "Your page, O son of Adam, is dictated what is within it, then it is folded, then it is spread open for you on the Day of Resurrection, so the man looks at what is in his page." Regarding "And when Hell is set ablaze (suʿʿirat)," he said: "It will be kindled." Regarding "And when Paradise is brought near (uzlifat)," he said: "It will be brought close." Regarding "A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it of deeds]," he said: "ʿUmar (may Allāh be pleased with him) said: 'Up to here is the end of the hadith.'"

His (Exalted is He) saying: "And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked."

19145 - Regarding "And when the she-camels ten months pregnant are neglected," he said: "It is the camels." Regarding "And when the girl buried alive is asked," he said: "They are the children of the polytheists."

Ibn ʿAbbās said: "The mawʾūdah is the one buried alive. In the Jāhiliyyah, when a woman was pregnant and the time of her delivery arrived, she would dig a hole and go into labor at the head of that hole. If she gave birth to a girl, she would throw her into that hole, and if she gave birth to a boy, she would keep him."
