19326 - And Abū ʿImrān al-Jawnī: When the Day of Resurrection arrives, Allāh will command every tyrant, every devil, and everyone whose evil was feared by people in the world to be shackled in iron. Then He will command them to Hell, and then He will close it upon them, meaning: He will shut it over them. He said: By Allāh, their feet will never find a place to rest; by Allāh, they will never see the expanse of the sky within it ever; by Allāh, their eyelids will never meet in sleep ever; and by Allāh, they will never taste a cold drink in it ever.
19327 - On the authority of Abū Rajāʾ, may Allāh be pleased with him, he said: It has reached me that the steep pass [al-ʿaqabah] which Allāh mentioned in His Book has an ascent of seven thousand years and a descent of seven thousand years.
19328 - On the authority of Kaʿb al-Aḥbār, he said: The steep pass is seventy levels in Hell.
His saying, the Almighty: "On a day of severe hunger"
19329 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allāh be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "On a day of severe hunger," he said: Famine.
19330 - On the authority of Ibrāhīm, may Allāh be pleased with him, regarding "On a day of severe hunger," he said: A day in which food is scarce.
His saying, the Almighty: "Of near relationship," and His saying, the Almighty: "Of deep poverty"
19331 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allāh be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "Of near relationship," meaning: a relative. And regarding His saying: "Of deep poverty," he means one far from his land, meaning: a stranger away from his home.
19332 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allāh be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "Or a destitute person in the dust," he said: It is the castaway who has no house. In the wording of al-Ḥākim: He is the needy person who has nothing to protect him from the dust. And in another wording: He is the one sticking to the ground due to extreme poverty.
His saying, the Almighty: "And then became among those who believed and advised one another to mercy"
19333 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allāh be pleased with them both: "And advised one another to mercy," meaning by that: having mercy on all people.
His saying, the Almighty: "Locked/Closed"
He said: The doors are closed.
19334 - On the authority of Abū Hurayrah, he said: "Locked/Closed" [muʾṣadah] means shut tight.
