His saying, the Exalted: "And the sun runs to a resting place for it."
- From Abu Dharr, he said: I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in the mosque at sunset. He said: "O Abu Dharr, do you know where the sun sets?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Indeed, it goes until it prostrates beneath the Throne; that is His saying: 'And the sun runs to a resting place for it.'" He said: "So its resting place is beneath the Throne."
- From Abu Dharr, he said: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, about His saying: "And the sun runs to a resting place for it." He said: "Its resting place is beneath the Throne."
- From Abu Dharr, he said: I entered the mosque when the sun had set, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was sitting. He said: "O Abu Dharr, do you know where this goes?" I said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "Indeed, it goes until it prostrates before its Lord, then it asks permission to return, and it is permitted to do so. It is as if it were said to it: 'Rise from where you came.' So it rises from its setting place." Then he recited: "And that is a resting place for it." He said: "And that is the recitation of 'Abdullah."
- From 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar regarding the verse, he said: "Its resting place is that it rises, then sins repel it."
