18079 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "The sun is not permitted to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day," he said: "Each of them has an authority; the moon has an authority by night, and the sun has an authority by day. It is not permitted for the sun to rise during the night." And His saying: "nor does the night outstrip the day," he says: "It is not permitted, if there is a night, for there to be another night until the day comes."
18080 - From al-Dahhak, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "nor does the night outstrip the day," he said: "The night does not depart from here until the day comes from here," and he gestured with his hand toward the east.
18081 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "nor does the night outstrip the day," he said: "It is in the decree and knowledge of Allah that the day shall not miss the night until it reaches it and departs with its light."
18082 - From Abu Salih, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "The sun is not permitted to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day," he said: "Neither does this overtake the light of that, nor does that overtake the light of this."
His saying, the Exalted: "swimming in an orbit."
18083 - And 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam said: "In an orbit between the heaven and the earth."
His saying, the Exalted: "the loaded ship."
18084 - From Abu Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in the loaded ship," he said: "The ship of Noah, peace be upon him; he carried in it two of every kind." And "And We created for them from the likes of it what they ride," he said: "The ships that are in the seas and the rivers which people ride in."
His saying, the Exalted: "And We created for them from the likes of it what they ride."
18085 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding: "And We created for them from the likes of it what they ride," he said: "These are the ships that were made after the ship of Noah, similar to it."
