: 3449: Account: 3: Al-Hafiz Abu Ya'la said: Sahl ibn Zanjalah narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn Salih narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Jabir, that the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—remained one day without eating food until it became difficult for him. He circled the dwellings of his wives and did not find anything with any of them. So he went to Fatimah and said: "O my daughter, do you have anything for me to eat, for I am hungry?" She said: "No, by Allah—may my father and mother be sacrificed for you." When he left her, a neighbor of hers sent her two loaves of bread and a piece of meat. She took it from her and placed it in a bowl of hers and said: "By Allah, I will surely prioritize the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—with this over myself and those who are with me." They were all in need of a filling meal, so she sent Hasan or Husayn to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—. He returned to her, and she said: "May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, Allah has brought something, and I have hidden it for you."
