: 3568: The disciples (al-Hawariyyun): 2: Al-Qurtubi said: "The Hawariyyun are the companions of 'Isa, peace be upon him, and they were twelve men, as stated by al-Kalbi and Abu Ruq. Ibn 'Abbas said: They were named as such due to the whiteness of their garments, and they were fishermen.
And 'al-hawari' of food is what has been bleached, meaning whitened. And 'ahwar' is white. 'Al-jafnah al-muhawwarah' is that which has been whitened with hump fat. 'Al-Hawari' also means the helper. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Every prophet has a helper (hawari), and my helper is al-Zubayr."
