4142: Multiplied: 5: Mujahid said in the commentary on this verse: They used to conduct sales on credit, and when the deadline arrived, they would increase the price in exchange for delaying it, so Allah, the Almighty, revealed: "O you who have believed, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied." Riba was singled out from among all other sins because it is the one for which war was announced in His saying: "But if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger." War threatens death, as if it is saying: If you do not fear Riba, you will be defeated and killed. So He commanded them to abandon Riba because it was practiced among them. And Allah knows best.

761: 4157: He said: 1: Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad that Heraclius wrote to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: "You have invited me to a Paradise whose breadth is the heavens and the earth, so where is the Fire?" The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Glory be to Allah, where is the night when the day comes?" Narrated by Ahmad (3/442), al-Kanz (15213, 29661), al-Qurtubi (4/204), Ibn Kathir (2/98), al-Tabari (4/60), and Bidayah (5/16).

762: 4157: Allah: 1: It is stated in "al-Durr al-Manthur": "Seven heavens and seven earths are layered like garments are layered one upon another, and none can measure their magnitude except Allah." See: (al-Durr: 2/315).

4162: Hardship: 2: In "al-Durr" (2/316): "In hardship and ease."

763: 4165: They forgive: 1: Surah al-Shura, verse: 37.

4166: Among you: 2: Surah al-Nur, verse: 22.

4167: That: 3: Imam Ahmad said: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from al-Harith ibn Suwayd, from Abdullah—who is Ibn Mas'ud—may Allah be pleased with him—he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Which of you finds the wealth of his heir dearer to him than his own wealth?" They said: O Messenger of Allah, there is not one of us but his own wealth is dearer to him than the wealth of his heir. He said: "Know that there is not one among you but that the wealth of his heir is dearer to him than his own wealth. Your wealth is what you have sent forward, and what belongs to your heir is what you have left behind." He said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Who do you consider the strong (al-sur'ah) among you?" We said: He whom men cannot wrestle down. He said: "No, but rather he who controls himself when angry." He said: And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Do you know who the al-raqub is?" We said: The one who has no children. He said: "No, but rather the al-raqub is he who has not sent forward any of his children [as a good deed]." Sahih. Narrated by Muslim in (al-Birr wa al-Silah, h/106), Abu Dawud (h/4779), al-Bayhaqi (4/68), Ibn Abi Shaybah (8/344), Ithaf (8/5), Mushkil (2/254), al-Fath (10/519, 11/260), Dhahabi (23), Adhkar (267), and al-Masanid (2/688).

764: 4171: Punishment: 1: Narrated by al-Tabarani (18/140), al-Manthur (2/147), and al-Majma' (1/103), and he attributed it to al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir," and its narrators are trustworthy, except that al-Hasan is a mudallis and used 'an'ana (a chain of narration that is ambiguous).

765: 4180: For their sins: 1: Sahih. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (h/3006) as mawquf (stopped at the Companion). It was also narrated by Ibn Majah (h/1395), Ahmad (1/2), Ibn Abi Shaybah (2/387), Ibn Kathir (2/13), Musnad Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (49), al-Humaydi (4), Ithaf (8/603), and al-Kanz.
