agriculture, and abandon Jihad, Allah will impose upon you a humiliation that He will not remove until you return to your religion."

It was narrated by Abu Dawud (H/3462), al-Bayhaqi (5/316), Nasb al-Rayah (4/17), Ibn Kathir (4/67), al-Sahihah (11), al-La'ali (2/65), al-Mizan (10378), al-Targhib (2/329), al-Manthur (1/248), al-Hilyah (5/209), and Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" (5/1998).

1775: 10008. And their servants: 1: It was narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No polytheist shall enter our mosque after this year of ours, except for the people of the covenant and their servants."

1776: 10012. The Sacred (Haram): 1: His statement: "The Sacred Mosque"—this term is applied to the entire Sanctuary (Haram), and this is the school of 'Ata'. Thus, it is forbidden to allow a polytheist to enter the entire Sanctuary.

So if a messenger from them comes to us, the Imam goes out to the Hill (the area outside the Sacred Sanctuary) to hear what he has to say.

1777: 10021. Interpretation (Ta'wil): 1: Tafsir Mujahid: (1/276).

: 10024. Its virtue: 2: Al-Qurtubi said: The scholars differed regarding from whom the Jizyah (poll tax) is taken. Al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Jizyah is not accepted except from the People of the Book specifically, whether they are Arabs or non-Arabs, due to this verse, for they are the ones singled out for mention, so the ruling is directed to them to the exclusion of others, due to His saying (the Almighty and Majestic): "...then kill the polytheists wherever you find them." And He did not say: "...until they pay the Jizyah," as He said regarding the People of the Book.

He also said: It is accepted from the Magians based on the Sunnah, and Ahmad and Abu Thawr maintained this. This is the school of al-Thawri, Abu Hanifah, and his companions. Al-Awza'i said: The Jizyah is taken from every worshiper of an idol, fire, or someone who is a denier or a disbeliever.
