2870: 16289: The liars: 1: Ibn Kathir said: Meaning: You have spoken the truth in this report of yours.

2871: 16301: About them: 1: Al-Qurtubi said: His command to turn away is a good demonstration of etiquette, so that he may step aside in accordance with how one conducts oneself with monarchs.

Meaning: Stay nearby until you see their response, as stated by Wahb ibn Munabbih.

Ibn Zayd said: His command to turn away means: Returning to them, i.e., meet them and return.

2872: 16301: The Merciful: 1: The scholars said: No one wrote "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" before Solomon (peace be upon him), and they agreed upon writing "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" at the beginning of books and letters, and upon sealing them because it is further from suspicion. This is the established practice, and there is a report from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab that he said: "Whatever book is not sealed is left without a covering," and in the hadith: "The nobility of the book is its seal."

Al-Qurtubi: (13/193) and al-Khafa (2/160).

2873: 16303: The Most Beautiful: 1: Surah al-Isra, verse: 110.

: 16306: The Merciful: 2: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (3/361), and he said: "This hadith is gharib (singular) or its chain of narration is weak."

2875: 16315: Noble: 1: Al-Qurtubi said: The mala' (council) are the nobles of the people. Ibn 'Abbas said: There were one thousand leaders with her. It is also said: Twelve thousand leaders, with each leader having one hundred thousand. A leader (qayl) is a king lesser than the supreme king. So she proceeded with good etiquette with her people and consulted them regarding her affair, and she informed them that this was her consistent practice in every matter that arises.
