2715: 15302: All-Aware: 1: Al-Zajjaj said: The meaning is: ask about Him. A group of linguists have related that the [preposition] 'ba' can mean 'an' (about), as the Almighty says: 'A questioner asked about a punishment bound to befall,' and the meaning is: ask by your questioning of Him, [who is] all-aware. Al-Qurtubi said: Al-Zajjaj's statement is interpreted in a sound manner, which is that the 'all-aware' [khabir] be someone other than Allah, meaning: ask about Him a person who is all-aware, i.e., knowledgeable about Him, meaning: about His attributes and His names. The meaning is: 'And ask for Him an all-aware one,' so it is in the accusative case as a state (hal) from the implicit pronoun [referring to Him].
