2412 - Musa b. Abi Musa al-Khatmi narrated to us, Harun b. Hatim reported to us, 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "...from their homes," meaning: their dwellings.

2413 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani reported to us, from al-Nadr Abu 'Umar al-Khazzaz, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Have you not seen those who left their homes while they were in the thousands, fearing death": He said: They were four thousand.

2414 - My father narrated to me, Bukayr b. al-Aswad al-'A'idhi reported to us, Sa'id b. Masruq al-Kindi reported to us, Isma'il reported to us, from Abu Salih, regarding His saying: "Have you not seen those who left their homes": He said: They were nine thousand.

2415 - Abu Sa'id b. Yahya b. Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, 'Amr al-'Anqazi reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "Have you not seen those who left their homes while they were in the thousands": He said: They were thirty-something thousand.

His saying: "fearing death"

2416 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Yahya 'Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani reported to us, from al-Nadr Abu 'Umar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "...while they were in the thousands, fearing death": He said: They were four thousand who left, fleeing from the plague.

2417 - Muhammad b. Sa'd al-'Awfi informed me, in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn reported to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "fearing death," [meaning:] fleeing from their enemy. It was also narrated from al-Dahhak and Matar that they fled from Jihad.
